Richard D. Colvin is an artist and museum professional with deep roots in Central Florida.

Born in Olathe, Kansas (1957), Colvin's family relocated to Florida in the mid-1960s. During his 37+ year museum career, he has had the opportunity to direct many programs/ activities, manage staff and volunteers. He currently lives in Groveland, Florida, with his wife Ann, who is his inspiration.

Colvin has been fortunate to have many personal and professional mentors, including Barbara Bassett, Thomas F. Peterson, Jerry Raidiger, Maury Hurt, William J. Loving, and others. His greatest mentor is his father, Ronald P. Colvin.

Great lessons may be learned from studying great artists. Colvin's favorites are a wide-ranging lot, and include Rembrandt, Sargent, Braque, Johns, O'Keeffe, and too many others to mention.

Colvin has been teaching painting, drawing, printmaking, and art history for many years.

The artist is available for commissions and judging/jurying assignments by arrangement.
